Lake Tianci (Chongji) is the highest lake in the world, at a height of 2,189 metres on the border of the DPRK and China. The Dark depths of Tianci keep the mystery of mysterious monsters, which, according to legends, are in it. Although scientists sceptically refer to eyewitnesses ' assertions that such a cold lake may contain large creatures, over the past 20 years there have been more than 30 evidence of their real existence.
The lake is located in a sinking Chanbayshan volcano in East Tian Shane. The volcanic eruption took place in 1597, and it was so powerful that the ash had reached the Japanese island of Hokkaido.
The mean depth of the lake is 105 meters, but there are as many as 373 meters. Previously, the lake was called Yaochi (North Lake), but in 1783 it was renamed Tianci (Norbian). Because of its high position, the lake will freeze at the end of November, and the ice is completely melted in mid-June. The lake is a place of mass pilgrimage of tourists. In 2006, a four-year programme was adopted to restore and expand the tourist area around the lake. According to the legend, the goddess, often swimming in the lake, fell in love with the local citizen, and their descendants had Koreans and Manchures. There's another legend of evil that lived in the mountains and set fires to destroy the surroundings. In one village, there was a bold girl, Gia Jin, who decided to free people from evil. She started praying to Godina Lubber to help her in this difficult case. She gave her heavenly ice. As soon as the evil spirit decided to fire people and fire underground, Gee Jin was thrown into the veil of Thianchi volcano. That volcano fell apart, and there was a lake in which evil spirit drowned.
